It's not just what we do—it's who we are.

Our Environmental Policy

Long before "green" became fashionable, Bingaman owners and employees have been dedicated to promoting healthy, prolific forests in Pennsylvania. It's not just what we do—it's who we are.

Approximately 70% of Pennsylvania's forest lands are owned by private, non-industry landowners. As stewards of this vast resource, Bingaman Forestry teams adhere to proven "Best Management Practices" (BMP) to ensure sustainable forest management.

Since 1953, the US Forest Service has confirmed that twice as much volume is growing in Pennsylvania's forests than is harvested, demonstrating the effectiveness of modern forestry practices following BMP standards (USFS Forest Resources of the United States, 2012, Table 20, p52).

Our Responsibility

To fulfill our responsibility as a commercial user and supplier of our valuable forest resource, we are committed to the following principles:

Best Management Practices: Implementing BMP in all forest harvests to improve residual growth and regeneration for future generations. Learn More about Best Management Practices.

Environmental Impact: Considering complete environmental impact in timber harvests, including soil erosion, water quality, and existing plant life.

Wildlife Impact: Ensuring sustainability and improvement of existing wildlife habitat in each harvest plan for future generations.

Complete Utilization: Supporting the complete utilization of wood products and residues to reduce waste and efficiently use forest resources.

Risk Elimination: Conducting operations to eliminate unacceptable environmental risks to customers, employees, neighbors, and communities, while complying with all applicable laws and regulations.

Education and Engagement: Actively engaging and supporting education in the value and use of forest resources among employees, wood product users, landowners, and the general public.

At Bingaman & Son Lumber, sustainability isn't just a trend—it's a way of life. We remain committed to preserving our forests for generations to come.
